Infrastructure
The station consists of two
containers (2.3mx5mx2.5m, 1800 kg each), which can be
transported on trucks and flown to the desired site by helicopter.
One container is equipped for laboratory work and to house
measuring instruments, data loggers and data transmission
equipment. The other serves as shelter for 4 to 6 people.
Power for the lab and the shelter is captured by solar panels (12V
and 24 V storage battery), and bottled gas is used for heating and
cooking.
Meteorological data are recorded all
year long, hydrological measurements only during the
ice-free season. A rowboat equipped with a small cable winch is
available for sediment and water sampling.
